A List of Summer Shopping

It’s been 11 weeks since the launch of List Person and, with it, 11 published lists. True to myself and my broad interests, these posts been all over the place—ranging from ways to feel hot, to how to infuse more art into your life, to damn good food in NYC.

I’m not going to lie: I’m pretty self-congratulatory for this consistent weekly cadence. I love a project, I really do, but when it inevitably gets boring or daunting, I often find myself dropping it for the next shiny thing. Serial hobbyist, reporting for duty.

Yet, consistency has made this Substack journey rewarding. I look forward to the time I set aside each week to write, even if I have no idea what to say as I open my laptop. In these 11 weeks, I’ve reached 71 subscribers which seems both small and incredibly large. 71 people reading my little old lists… The ones I write while polishing off a bottle of orange wine, or draft in my Notes app as I rub shoulders with strangers on the Downtown 6. It feels silly. It feels special. It feels good to write outside of all the copywriting I do for work, and to show up for myself time and time again.

I noodled on this week’s list for a while before settling on what’s naturally top of mind: summer shopping. I can’t help it! I just want to prance around the city looking cute, and it’s impossible to think of upcoming travels and not find the perfect accessory to pair. Not to mention seasonal apartment refreshments.

While I haven’t bought any of the below just yet, let’s just say my finger is hovering on “ADD TO CART.”

11 Items on My Summer Shopping List:

1. Staud Timmy Shoulder Bag - Multi Bayadere Stripe

   I’m a big Staud enthusiast these days, and this technicolor bag is siren-calling me (I’m picturing it paired with a little linen set or dressed-up with a black midi dress). I also think the Staud beaded bags are precious, and this raffia shoulder bag would round out my summer bag arsenal nicely.

   

2. J. Crew Beach Pant with Pom-Poms

   Hot. There’s also a matching tank.

   

3. Gohar World Napkin Rings - Shell

   I saw these hand-carved pearl napkin rings at Gohar World last week and haven’t been able to get them off my mind since.

   

4. Moon Juice Mini Dew - Naked

   I have a whole kitchen drawer dedicated to tinctures and powders and supplements, and this unflavored one is next on my list to try after I finish the Pomelo flavor. Mini Dew is an electrolyte + mineral drink mix without artificial sweeteners or sugar, which is crucial for this summer heat (along with my mighty portable fan).

   

5. Margaux Demi-Jane

   These shoes have been on my radar for a while now. I mean, just read this review: "I got my Demi Jane’s two days before leaving for Paris. Taking a brand new pair of shoes on a trip is usually a big no no. Not only did I not 'break' them in…I wore them almost every day and the first day I walked 15 miles—I’m not exaggerating. Not one blister—just absolute comfort. I think I need a pair in every color."

   

6. Loeffler Randall Jocelyn Natural/Green Bucket Hat

   Dare I say, this seems like the perfect hat for a pontoon happy hour.

   

7. Crown Affair Dianna's Signature Air Dry Collection

   You will rarely find me blow-drying come summer. I’ve been wanting to try the Crown Affair microfiber towel and this set seems like the full shebang.

   

8. Susan Alexandra Beaded Card Holder

   I bought my sister one of these beaded beauties as a graduation gift and have been thinking about snagging one for myself. Would also love this for my keys.

   

9. Sézane Josiana Dress

   This is exactly the dress I’d want to wear when it’s too hot to wear anything.

   

10. Zara Home Triple Appetizer Bowl

    Marcona almonds. Castelvetrano olives. Fancy cheese cubes. The holy trinity tray of aperitivo hour.

    

11. Nail Stickers

    After a few months off gel manicures, I’m once again itching for something fun on my fingers. It could end up looking childish, but I’d like to see this Pinterest vision of mine through with these or these.
